CenHTRO's project in Guinea is currently on hold.

Our project in Guinea focuses on child trafficking among children aged 5-17 across all sectors in the Boké and Mamou regions. We work closely with government, NGO, and research partners in a collective impact approach. CenHTRO completed our baseline research in Guinea in 2021 with research partners ResilientAfrica Network and Stat View International.

Qualitative techniques included in-depth interviews with survivors as well as focus groups and key informant interviews with key stakeholders. The quantitative design incorporated household surveys as well as the Network Scale Up Sampling Methods (NSUM) that is used to reach hard-to-find populations. The standards used in this methodology serve as promising approaches in collecting baseline data and identifying service gaps, while building on community resources and strengths.

CenHTRO's implementing partner in Sierra Leone is Sabou Guinée, who are partnering with the Fédération Mounafanyi de Kindia (FMK) to open two new transit centers for child trafficking survivors under the APRIES grant. The program’s objectives are to provide protection services to child trafficking survivors and ensure the sustainable reintegration of these survivors. During its one-year pilot, the program aims to serve 65 child survivors at the Sabou Guinée transit center in Boké and 35 child survivors at the FMK transit center in Mamou.

Our Guinea Child Trafficking Prosecution Project aims to improve the successful prosecution of child trafficking perpetrators and enhance the protection of child trafficking victims. The project will strengthen the capacity of local human rights agencies on TIP issues, train magistrates, law enforcement officers, and community-based organizations on TIP issues, and provide judicial support for child trafficking survivors. APRIES will partner with the Guinean NGO Les Mêmes Droits pour Tous (“Equal Rights for All,” MDT) to meet these objectives.
